About Kathy Frey

A desire to work in a field where she could use her creative skills led to a degree in graphic design from Carnegie Mellon University. For several years she worked as a designer before abandoning life in front of a computer screen to pursue a hands-on career in jewelry design. Kathy's graphic training is apparent in her linear wirework and interesting use of positive and negative space that is apparent in her jewelry designs today.

Kathy’s studio and home are in Chicago, Illinois, where she lives with her supportive husband and 2 crazy mutts. She runs a bustling studio with 4 assistants; her jewelry can be found in boutiques, museum shops, and at popular art fairs around the United States. In 2007 Lark Books published "Elegant Wire Jewelry," a how-to book featuring Kathy's designs which is available at Barnes and Noble and other book stores.

A self-proclaimed action movie junkie, Kathy is also an amateur cook who enjoys running and practicing yoga.
